Design & Technology Suite
The Dementia Services Development Centre is at the forefront of highlighting dementia-friendly design. The Design and Technology Suite at the Iris Murdoch Building showcases practical design solutions for people with dementia and their carers. The opening of the Design and Technology Suite in March 2008 confirmed the DSDC's role as a leading UK centre for dementia-friendly design. The suite features technology and equipment which provides solutions to day-to-day problems for people with dementia. It is based in the purpose-built, dementia-friendly Iris Murdoch Building which showcases both building and garden design.
Tours of the Building
Audio handset tours of the Design and Technology suite are available free of charge to people with dementia, carers, volunteers and students. The handset tour will give you a taster of what are considered to be the main principles of dementia-friendly design and showcase some examples of how these can be adopted in various settings.
Handset tours are available for other groups on request. Please note these are subject to a fee of £10 per person. Contact us using our online enquiry form or phone us on 01786 467740.
Read a lovely article about our tours and building design in the NHS Bradford District Connections magazine which was published in April 2011.
