The Test Process
HCPL test process is adopted from that of the DVLA Driving Test in that, it has three test components:
- • A Theory Test
- • A Practice Observation
- • Oral Questioning
The tests are supported by the HCPL Guidance Manual, which contains:
- • All grouping criteria relevant to care industry
- • A bank of theory test questions (multiple choice)
- • A bank of oral questions
- • A list of observation criteria
Each candidate undertaking the HCPL tests:
- • Issued with the HCPL Guidance Manual for self-study for a short period of time (approximately two weeks)
- • Sit a 50-question theory test paper with questions randomly selected from the bank (tests are done under closed-book conditions)
- • Meets up with an assessor to be observed on a regular work routine
- • Answer 10 randomly selected oral questions from the bank
- • If they pass all three components, they are issued with a Certificate
- • Resits are available up to three times
HCPL team liaise, prepare, ship, mark and prepare reports at each stage of the testing process. They also support the organisation, assessors, candidates and in some cases the service users throughout the testing process.
HCPL team also prepare and distribute organisational reports which can be customised for specific organisational needs.
