Scottish Voluntary Sector Dementia Support Services

Subsidised dementia services for the voluntary sector

The Dementia Services Development Centre provides subsidised dementia services and training for voluntary sector bodies throughout Scotland. This three-year liaison service project is funded by the Tudor Trust. Their support allows the DSDC to provide essential support for voluntary and community organisations across Scotland. In year one of the project 27 voluntary organisations have benefited and over 200 staff have accessed reduced rate training. It is hoped that over the next two years many more voluntary organisations will benefit from the service. Areas of support include training, organisational needs analysis and consultancy. This initiative provides practical and constructive guidance to voluntary organisations and community groups across Scotland. The service is particularly relevant to frontline people working in dementia care. The service aims to improve care for people with dementia by providing access to the latest thinking, training and expert advice. The liaison service assists small and large voluntary and community organisations. The DSDC will help provide expert information and training that is often not affordable to the voluntary sector. The range of service available includes:
