International Dementia Excellence Awards - Nominate now!

As part of the International Dementia Partnership’s commitment to innovative, passionate and intelligent care for people with dementia, we are thrilled to announce the International Excellence in Dementia Awards in Sydney, hosted by the Dementia Services Development Centre.

This amazing event will be held alongside the Risky Business Conference. The IDEAs recognise organisations and individuals who have worked hard to improve the quality of life for people of dementia.

Risky Business: Facing up to Dementia, 28-29 June 2012

This conference will consider the future we are shaping for people with dementia. The International Dementia Partnership of The Dementia Centre, Hammond Care and the Dementia Services Development Centre, University of Stirling will host this conference in Darling Harbour, Sydney, Australia from 28-29 June 2012. Best Practice in Dementia Care: a six part self-study course for care home staff, healthcare assistants and day centre staff

Staff from Cameron Hospital, Fife, who have completed this course receive their certificates We train one of your staff members as a facilitator to deliver this programme to 8 staff members in your workplace using a cascade approach. This RCN-accredited course is appropriate for staff in day care, care homes and healthcare assistants in hospitals.

Format: This course involves our centre training a senior member of your staff team as a facilitator who will then deliver the course material over 6 months back in the workplace with our regular support.

With our office in London, alongside Belfast and Stirling, we are able to provide the services and support you need wherever you are and when you need us.

The dementia centre works to improve services for people with dementia. We work with the NHS, local authorities, the voluntary sector, emergency services and government organisations to provide unrivalled education and training in dementia. Our events range from international dementia conferences to workshops and seminars on dementia. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate modules and degree courses for those working with people with dementia.
